The GF Securities (Canada) Associate Investment Advisor (Associate-IA) Program prepares ambitious self-starters to become an Investment Advisor through intensive training and development. Our extensive curriculum provides you wealth management techniques and resources needed to create strategies and build a client base of high-net worth individuals.

The Associate-IA program is designed to provide a full-time position to individuals that have been in the financial related services for at least 2 years, is looking to become an investment advisor working with an existing advisory team.
This role is ideal for a sales professional who has a strong drive to succeed and who is comfortable in a commissioned sales role. If you have a strong entrepreneurial spirit with the networking skills to build long-term, advisory relationships, we would like to hear from you.
To succeed, you’ll work hard, struggle through slow periods and face tough challenges while building your business. You’re the kind of person who doesn’t give up — and knows you’ll get to where you want to be. As an Investment Advisor, you are entirely responsible for generating your own income. You are sales-oriented, self-motivated/managed, disciplined and resopnsible with a strong work ethic.
The Program Is Broken Out Into Three Phases
Our rigorous training and development program fully prepares our candidates to enter our elite Investment Advisor workforce. The Associate-IA Program is highly selective, and we accept only the top candidates.
Phase 1 ( Month 1 – Month 3 )
The candidates are required to pass the CSC and CPH exams, begin consultation meetings with their designated coaches appointed to them at the commencement of the program, complete assigned curriculum, business plan and attend the 90 day IIROC Licensing Training Program.
Phase 2 ( Month 4 – Month 12 )
The candidates will be registered the Investment Advisor license, will learn about wealth management topics and client conversations, participate in weekly coaching meetings, prospect for clients, open new account relationships under the 6 month close supervision.
Phase 3 ( Month 13 – Month 36 )
In this final stage the candidates will be an independent Investment Advisor working with the advisory team. You will need to manage and expand client relationships, gather referrals, target specific niche markets, grow your own book and cooperate with your team members in this growing period.
